Alnico magnets

Euromag offers you a wide range of Alnico magnets: parallelepipeds, pots, suction cups, bars, U-shaped magnets, etc.

Characteristics of Alnico magnets

  • Metal magnets made of aluminium, nickel, cobalt and iron
  • Maximum operating temperature: +450°C
  • Density 7.3
  • Very good shock resistance
  • High remanent induction and low coercive field

Alnico permanent magnets are metal magnets mainly made of aluminium, nickel, cobalt and iron. They are produced by casting.

Alnico magnets have been in use since 1930 and have a maximum magnetic energy of 1 to about 9MGOe.

The load-bearing capacity is optimal when the magnet is in contact with a soft, flat, clean and sufficiently thick steel frame. It decreases for alloyed steels and cast iron (-30% for cast iron) and when there is an air gap. It decreases by 0.04% per degree. This loss is reversible.

For a maximum surface value, the magnet must be bare and have a length, between the two pole faces, of about 5 times its diameter. The value of the induction created by the Alnico decreases by 0.02% per degree as the temperature increases. This loss is reversible.

Of all the rigid magnetic materials, Alnico offers the best impact resistance. Oxidation resistance is good in a normal atmosphere. They do not need a coating.

Do not put the magnets in repulsion. Do not slide them against each other, or leave a magnet against a part to be attracted: they can lose up to 30% of their attraction power.
